H&K Dry Firing Question????

I just picked up my first HK, I love my Glock’s but I thought I would branch out. The P2000 SK is just a little bigger than the baby Glock so it fits my hand better. My question is, is it ok to dry fire a HK without snap caps? I know it’s ok to do with a Glock but I wasn’t sure about the HK’s.

The P2000 SK is awesome, I highly recommend it if you are in the market for a high quality sub compact.

Because the HK has a hammer striking the firing pin I would say occasionally is no big deal, but if you plan to do a lot of dry-fire drills you should use a snap cap. Glocks don't have a hammer, so you don't have the impact on the firing pin that you have dry-firing the HK.

I used to feel that dry firing an HK was not an issue until I broke the firing pin in both of my USPs. Use a snap cap in the USPs and the 2000.

I'll have to go with SRVA on this one. I used to dry fire my USP all the time without a snap cap, but I have some now and you're better off with them.

I recently purchased one as well. It's sa/da in .40. I traded in my baby Glock for one.

Re the snap caps, I always heard that it was ok to dry fire a modern center fire pistol and I always did with no concern. I never broke a firing pin.

However, after reading an HK site (HK Pro), I bought a snap cap. The site has several comments about broken firing pins and many members seem to reccommend using them with HKs. The comment by SRVA seems to support that.

Incidently, I liked the sk so much I have also purchased the P2000. It is slightly larger, about the size of a colt commander. Holds 12 rd mag which also will work in the sk.
