Looking for guns to try in Houston

Post by Zero_G »

My wife and I went to the gunshow today looking at potential guns for her. She thought the S&W 908 and the Springfield XD Compact 9mm fit her hand well. Being the intelligent woman that she is, she wants to shoot a gun before buying it.
If there's anyone in the Houston area that has one of these guns (or the KelTec P11 - I'm looking at it as a BUG) that would let us shoot it, please PM me. We live on the SE side and are PSC members.

Some ranges have rental guns. IIRC Top Gun & Pasadena gun center have some to rent. Just call them to check inventory.

You are a PSC Member.
You need to sign up for the forum day at PSC. It is the last Sat in Sept. If you do not have a gun by then there will be plenty there to borrow & shoot. From 9:00 to 4:00 there is a "Find The Gun You Want" & there will be many there to shoot. Bring ammo for the caliber you want to shoot & many of us are bringing guns to loan.

Since you are a member there, you may find one before then. :thumbs2:

I do have a S&W 908. Only thing different than factory is that I have put Houge rubbers on it. I'm a little drive from you, but would be happy to schedule to meet you somewhere to let her try it out. Feel free to reply, email or PM me.

I have a Springfield XD in 9mm she's welcome to try. Perhaps JLaw could meet us at PSC and your wife would try both. If the schedule doesn't work, then Longtooth's recommendation about the TexasCHLforum Day at PSC is a great idea.

I have the S&W 908 and plan to bring it to CHLForum Day. My daughter used it last year and will be shooting it again this year. It was my primary carry sidearm for about 2 years, but then I switched to a G19. When my daughter turns 21, she will probably inherit it along with a dad-paid CHL class.

Look us up and we'd be happy to let you give it a try.

Thanks for the replies. I'm hoping to go to the Forum Day at PSC, but that is going to be a busy time for me as it's just before the Hubble shuttle mission that I'm supporting. It's also just after the wife's birthday. I'm hoping to find her a gun sooner.
Top Gun has the XD, but not the S&W. It's more informative to talk to people that own and shoot a gun regularly rather than the guy trying to sell you one at the store.

I'll get with some of you via PM and see what we can work out.

Suggest to her that she come to the Women's program at PSC. . They have some 22's to shot with and not only will she get some training but after the session women are often willing to let others try out their baby. It meets on the first Saturday of the month, Aug 2 in this case and costs $10 for PSC members. Go to the web site for details.

I plan to be there, 'givin the creek don't rise". If so, she is welcome to try out my XD9mmsc.
