A friend is missing - NO LONGER! updated 8/12/08

Whether the need is great or small, there is power in prayer, especially when God's people raise their voices together.

Lord I pray for this family and their needs. I pray she will be found safe and well, and for relief of their other hardships as well.

Cat has been found!!!

She showed up at a cousin's house near Denton. She's in reasonably good shape physically, but has considerable memory loss... no memory of the last 25-30 years, at least. She's been taken to Presbyterian Hospital for evaluation and care.

She's been travelling the country  riding with truckers (she apparently only felt safe around truck drivers and truck stops) looking for "her family." She was remembering her childhood, and answering to a name that hasn't been hers for many years (she was adopted). It was a trucker with a laptop (and may God bless him and his family!) who helped reunite her with someone she remembered. He spent some time with her, googling anything and everything that she thought she remembered - and thus, she wound up with her cousin, who called Frogg.

She doesn't remember Frogg, or their children. Nor any of their friends from the last few years.

Yet.

We're hopeful that she'll make a good recovery - just being with her cousin has already triggered a few memories. She's now remembering her first husband, and that she divorced him. The tests at Presbyterian so far do not show any potential cause, although there is "some activity" in the part of her brain that was affected by her mini-stroke a couple years ago. They're hopeful, since she's recovering some of her earlier memories, that the more recent ones will come back with time.

She's alive, she's safe. Everything else can be worked with.

Thank you everyone for your prayers! Please continue to pray that she regains the rest of her missing memories.

Our God is an awesome God!

:hurry: I am so happy she is alive and well. God does watch over his sheep and returns them to the fold when they are lost and go astray. Thank you Father!

I'm so glad to hear that. I have been praying that she would be safely recovered.

Wow! What an incredible few weeks she's had.

And thank You, Lord, for placing that Good Samaritan in Cat's path. Without him and his diligence, there's no telling how long she might have wandered...or what might have eventually happened to her.

Prayers continue for Cat, Frogg, and the family.

I am glad she is safe, but You will need continued prayers for her family… a good buddy of mine’s mother had some strange virus, and could not develop a short term memory. And since nothing was going in for day to day, it was not there year to year… to her, he was 4 yrs old for the rest of his life. And his younger siblings were toddlers and infants respectively.

It was much harder on him then you would think, and by college (when I met him) she was confined to the house as she could not remember things as they changed (traffic laws, new construction ect).

It tore the family apart.

Thank you for recognizing that. Frogg understands.... he was talking with my husband, and mentioned that he was half-fearful of their future together since he basically had to "woo and win her all over again."

My husband, bless him, told Frogg that he was certainly up to the challenge because he has a bit of an "unfair advantage" over Cat now. Basically, Cat is still Cat - still the same person. It's just the last half of her life is missing from her memories. But Frogg already knows who she is, what she likes and doesn't like, what her values are.... and he certainly has the patience that they'll both need to rely on in the coming weeks and months.

She's a very lucky woman to have a husband like him. I'm blessed to have a husband who knows how to encourage another.

And we're very blessed to have friends like y'all who are willing to pray for a "friend of a friend" whom you've never met.

Thank you!
