Another school shooting - 16 yr old dies

Post by longhorn_92 »

This could have turned out much worse. It seems that Knoxville has had a number of high profile shootings lately....

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A law enforcement official says a 16-year-old student has died after a shooting in a Knoxville, Tenn. high school cafeteria.

The shooting at Central High School was reported to police at about 8:10 Thursday morning. Police say they took a suspect into custody six minutes later near the school and recovered the gun.

Knoxville chief deputy Bill Roehl (ROHL) confirmed the student's death.

The school was placed on lockdown after the shooting. School officials were preparing to release students one classroom at a time, then bus them to a church so they could be picked up by their parents.

I am really glad Texas is starting to see some of the teachers armed...

Yeah... all of the school districts in Texas should learn from Harrold school district. Are they just waiting for another mass killing of students?

At least one school district is being proactive!

Here's a story with more details:
http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2008/aug/2 ... gh-school/

This was apparently not a random shooting. The shooter and the victim had some kind of argument or scuffle before the shooting.

Another page, which I accidentally closed before recording the URL, stated that the shooter was a "client" of the juvenile justice system.

I wished EVERY school district would allow cc for the teachers with a chl. I believe the schools would be much safer with the nuts knowing someone could be armed.

Even then, they'll scream about how it endangered the children, and how "lucky" it was that a child wasn't shot.

That system frequently trains them to be more effective criminals.
