Ammo for my 6.8 is not quite as available as I would like, I am planning to place an order for some Silver State Armory 6.8 ammo in the next week or two. As for building/buying an AR-15 I like to build them because I can afford them that way. About $130 for a stripped lower, about $70 for a lower parts kit, as I get the money I get the parts I need for the gun.
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

Change of plans on this rifle, its got a new purpose that added a few pounds to it. On Saturday I went to the gun show in Odessa and then hog hunting that night. We may have heard the hogs some distance off but never got close enough to see them, in fact we weren't even sure we heard them. End results of the day was no hogs, got some Night Vision gear, and my wallet became a little lighter.

I went to the show late Saturday morning. I picked up a complete DPMS lower from the fellow in Seminole. He has K&W Trading south of Seminole. I've been really surprised by sellers at Odessa. There was One guy last year that had deals on AR stuff, Generally next to nothing though.
I have to go in pieces on this one, but since I don't know what I'm doing, that's ok.

Both of my builds are on lowers I purchased from Daryl (the owner of K&W). He's a good guy with reasonable prices.

After looking around the net, now I think I should have gone ahead with the DPMS upper he had.

Last time I was in his shop he had three or four uppers in stock, which upper are you wanting? Have you checked out http://fireforeffect.biz for what you want? Their carbine kit $449 has everything save for the lower and it includes sling, magazine, and detachable carry handle. Their kits are manufactured by CMMG and include shipping in the price. If you need Daryl's number I can get it for you.

Thanks, I have his number.
He had one built around a stainless 16" bull barrel. But now I'm thinking about going with a long range setup first.
I'll have to check your link later. Thanks.

Re: New AR15 build complete (pics inside).
My first AR15 build uses a Model 1 Sales upper with a 24" stainless steel E.R. Shaw bull barrel. My friend I got your Mini-30 from (who is a better shot than I am) can hit a 3x3 inch target at 440 yards with that gun, unfortunately we do not have access to a range where we can make a longer shot. If I had it to do over again I would have purchased a fluted barrel because of weight, and maybe the .223 chamber instead of the 5.56 chamber (I wonder how much more accurate the gun could be).
