need help with my big AR-15 purchase.

Re: need help with my big AR-15 purchase.
Throw in my 2 cents worth...
I did quite a bit of research and reading before I purchased my AR. I settled on a Colt LE6920, probably one of the most expensive stock AR. I read quite a bit on AR15.com and one of the guys is (claims) from Colt and he told us some stories on how Colt did their quality control when he was working for Colt. Now this is pure hearsay. Apparently Colt's rejects would end up with ... you can probably name the rest of manufacturers.
Rock River, Bushmaster, and Smith Wesson get a lot of praises. Among them, Bushmaster is probably the cheapest. Rock River benefits a lot from a deal with DEA, real or not, they did a good job in PR like HK did.
Since I know little about guns, I decided to go with quality, as very least, perceived quality.
On top of the rifle, there are many other things to consider. Magazines, accessories and optical would cost almost the same as the rifle.

Please help the wounded store owner who fought off 3 robbers. He doesn't have medical insurance.

that would mean no guns. Go down to your local bank and get a signature loan for $1500 or use a credit card.Not a good idea... that type of fraud could be a Felony;
I used the bulk of my student loan to have my transmission fixed when I was in college.

The Federal Student Loan program is regulated by flow-down regulations in the FAFSA:TexasComputerDude wrote:felony? I'mma have to read the papers. good to know though. I think it said I could use the money for whatever I want to but idk.
I understand that Federal Stafford Loan funds are Federal funds. In order to be eligible I must be
seeking a degree and meeting SAU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy. All the policies and
procedures for Federal Aid also apply to Federal Stafford Loans. Federal Loan funds do have
restrictions on their usage. Loan funds must be used for educational expenses only, such as
tuition, fees, books, room and board, etc. I understand that I must complete the FAFSA and
loan packet each academic year in order to apply for loan funds.

So if you use part of the money to buy an AR, and the rest to take an Urban Rifle training course, wouldn't that count as an "educational expense"?KaiserB wrote: I understand that Federal Stafford Loan funds are Federal funds. In order to be eligible I must be

haha, I have a 500$ credit limit on my card lol, I've ALWAYS paid on time and usually more than twice my monthly payment and I generally pay it off every 3 or 4 months. Why they won't up my limit I have no clue lol.

good to know, I guess I can use the loan to pay for the gas and use the money I was gonna pay for the gas with on the gun lol. The gas will prob. cost me more than an ar this semester as I have to fill up 3.5 times per week at 90$+ a pop.
I'll prob. just save for a few more months and buy it cash. I really don't like owing people money.
isn't the etc. kind of broad?
isn't personal protection an educational expense? I have to cross darn near 3 county lines to get to my school every day and theirs indians in the trees.

Re: need help with my big AR-15 purchase.
My buddy Rob at www.talonarms.com has a nice setup for $800 for a CMMG rifle.

You can also get the package deal with optics, case, PMags etc (Eotech) for $1300 here:

I've got a CMMG lower on my 9mm and its a very quality company. This is a very nice starter rifle. I spent well over $1100 on a RRA Entry Tactical. I think this is less than what Academy charges for their base AR model.

So that must've been at Shiloh right? I ended up not being able to make it unfortunately. Rob and Michael are really nice and very honest people...that's the main reason I buy from them (also since I live 5 mins from their shop).

ugh so many choices haha.
What store would be best to go check them out at? my academy only sells the bushmasters. Anyone know anywhere good in east texas? I need to get my hands on one. I've only shot one once when I went rabbit hunting with my cousin in new mexico.
