Flashpoint

Post by ScubaSigGuy »

I just watched this weeks recorded episode of Flashpoint. At the end of the show they were in the equipment room and a SWAT officer was readying his pistol to put away with his index finger in the trigger guard the entire time :banghead: . Actually I am not really sure what he was doing as the sound effects were not consistent with his actions, and he looked like he was holding a pistol for the first time. I replayed that part several times and still :confused5 .

I don't expect much from televison, but come on it's a series about a SWAT team.

I haven't seen the show, but I was reading earlier in the week about an episode where one of their snipers was firing with the bolt of his rifle open. Sounds like a pretty poorly produced show, overall.

This is the same show that had a nervous sniper a couple weeks ago. Seems like the last person you want to have a twitch.

They're Canadian.

Watch Stargate: SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis if you want to see what canadians can do with making gun's feel real. They practice amazing weapon habits, their fingers are nearly always outside the trigger guard when they aren't shooting, and more often than other shows with lots of gun fire they actually sort of aim. That and they use some cool guns, lot's of MP5's early on, then P90's, some Spas 12's, a few M16's (which you would think would be common) heck I just watched an episode where they fired off 2 Hellfire missles. Also the actors actually reload weapons! It's amazing!

Well granted sometimes it doesn't add up though, sometimes an actor will shoot 12 or so rounds out of his 1911 before reloading, and they don't always aim, or they aren't lined up like when someone would actually shoot. That and they're stupidly accurate, but overall for a TV show they really went all out with their weapon selection and teaching people how to use them. I don't think they've ever done something like shot with their bolt open, which is a good thing.:

I tuned in this week and was disappointed. The acting was horrible. The show had no plot. They kept repeating the same stuff over and over again.

This statement describes most network TV shows.

It turns out it was preempted and I was watching "news" coverage of Ike.

A show to watch, dont' think its around anymore, but is the UNIT I really enjoyed this show. I hate watching tv and movies when people know nothing of firearms and play a role of someone with a gun. I mean could the producer or director not do a little research? Heck call me I can tell them how to handle a gun better then the hollywood types. :grumble

Season 4 is supposed to start on Sept 28. Don't know why it was delayed so long. Maybe he had to get a bunch of Allstate commercials in the can first.

Writer's strike from last year jacked up a bunch of shows.
FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.

Last night on the episode the bad guy was holding a hostage at gun point and the good guy said he'd put down his gun. He ejected the mag and said something like "see, I've taken out the clip"...

I noticed but it didn't bother me. I equate it to people around here calling ANY carbonated beverage -a "Coke". I was glad my husband wasn't watching though; he's got a pet peeve for the misuse of "clip" when it should be called a "magazine".

. . . . and all of US who were watching (four CHLs) noticed that he didn't eject the round in the chamber.

I noticed that too, but I thought maybe it was strategic planning and would work itself back into the plot -- so he could still get to it and shoot off at least one round if he had to. The story line took it into a different direction though, so I don't guess that was their intention after all!
