Found an awesome deal on an LCP

Post by kidder014 »

So I've been keeping an eye out for a Ruger LCP to have on hand when it isn't practical to conceal the trusty ol' .40, but I really haven't had much luck finding one locally, and I really didn't want to spend the $380-$500 I kept seeing online.

That all changed this morning. I managed to stumble across a brand new LCP for a total of $325 out the door... I guess it just helps to be in the right place at the right time. :anamatedbanana

Now I can't wait to get it to the range and see what this booger can do. :fire

Ruger seems to be beginning to get the LCPs out to the distributors better now. I managed to get one via Cabella's sale last week for $299 plus tax. It would not surprise me if they are going "out the door" in the $300 range in another 6 months - with a probably-under-development and slightly bigger pistol in 9mm their next hot item.

Be carefull not to get in a hurry loading the magazine the first time. There is an ovesized slot about 4:00 near where round #5 goes. I was gripping that itty bitty magazine too tightly and pinched my middle finger almost to the point of drawing blood.

Can we order them from Ruger? Or do we just need to be in front of a gun-dealer that happens to have one?

McBrides shows them for $279 on their web site.

If it were me I'd just go into a gun shop that has them for a good price, even if they are not in stock, and ask to order one.

There is more of a supply now to help a little with demand. The price should start coming down.....just don't go back to the shops that were trying to price gouge you in the beginning!

It's been stated by others here that McBride's prices online do not match their prices in-store. Given their prices on other guns (they seem to run high, and even MSRP on some items), it wouldn't surprise me if this were true. You may want to call them first and see what price they quote you. I've heard the Cheaper Than Dirt is the same way regarding the disparity between online and in-store pricing.

I go to McBride's for accessories (some cleaning stuff, magazines, snap-caps, etc) and an occasional knife (they have a good selection), but never for guns or ammo. BTW, they do carry LCP magazines in good quantity - I bought 3 of them the day after I got my LCP. In a related note, it seems that the OEM for the LCP magazines is Mec-Gar. They have the same characteristics as my Mec-Gar mags for my Hi-Power, and the same "Made In Italy" stamp as well. This may be part of the reason why the LCP has proven itself more reliable than the P3AT in feeding operations - Mec-Gar mags are good stuff.
