Church Disturbance Drills

Re: Church Disturbance Drills
I remember thinking about this in the past and during research found some legal information online regarding Texas security officer licensing regulation issues. One shocker was that anyone acting in a "security" capacity ("usher" or "greeter") and carries is in violation of Texas Security Licensing laws even if not paid....or something to that extent. I can't for the life of me find the citation now. Does anyone out there have any information regarding this?

Yes, my contacts say that is correct. To do "security" work in church the church must have a security license and those providing security must be registered with the state (background check, etc. (just like chl)).
And, you cannot concealed carry when providing "security" work for the church. You can be certified as armed security (40 hour class) and then you be in uniform and wepon must be displayed (open carry). Non armed security can be plain clothes or uniformed.
This provides an interesting (read difficult) catch 22 for using chl folks on a security group at church.
I wonder if you could have a security team without calling it a security team (use another creative term)? But anyway, my friend (owner of a security company) said that the legislature last time passed a $10,000 fine for first offeneders if you fail to follow the security rules and regs. And the legislature put all that under DPS now.
