Cabella's is where I picked it up a day or three ago. It's the first I've bought of the Buffalo Bore ammo in any caliber. They seem to have a good reputation with the handgun hunting crowd. Sorta known for heavy-for-caliber hardcast bullets with bone-crushing flat points and maximum penetration. Apparently applying similar concept to these mouse gun rounds intended for 2-legged varmints.

I got the last box of 380 Gold Dots at Cabellas. And would have picked up a box of the Corbon DPX if they had it. Someone on one of the other forums indicated they had chronoed the DPX out of a Kel-Tec and it was running just a bit over 1000 fps.

A little concerned about the Buffalo Bore stuff being both exceptionally "hot and heavy", I had e-mailed a couple of buddies earlier in the day to tell them what I had working - just in case I was found on the floor of the range with that itty bitty slide embedded in my forehead. ;-)

P.S. Salty1: You're quite welcome. Thanks for not perforating the toy.

The difference is more than expansion. a JHP will slip through tissue (it's streamlined that way, after all. Even if it doesn't expand, the JHP has a sharp edge on the nose of the bullet, and it will tear tissue as it penetrates, as opposed to pushing it aside. It can be the difference between damaging a vital organ and passing along the side of it. Also, .380 has been shown in ballistics tests to expand quite well. My particular choice of Hornady 90gr XTP JHP performed very well in expansion while also getting good penetration and staying together in all the tests I've read. In addition, it's the smoothest feeding ammo I've shot.

In order for it to damage a vital organ, it has to penetrate deeply enough to get there. Unless the threat is an angry garden knome, I want as much penetration as possible from a tiny gun.

Sorry, you can post as many links as you like but you're not going to convince me that a 380 jhp that hits "in the vacinity of where I aim", is going to be more effective than a good ol' fmj that hits exactly where I aim.
I am scared of empty guns and keep mine loaded at all times. The family knows the guns are loaded and treats them with respect. Loaded guns cause few accidents; empty guns kill people every year. -Elmer Keith. 1961

If POA vs POI is the only important criteria why even bother with the chronograph?
