CompTac Custom Belt holster review

Post by age_ranger »

Thought I would post this for those who don't already know what a great company CompTac is. Just got my new rig today and I'm happier than a ......well, I'm pretty darn happy so here goes.....

Comp-Tac Belt Holster and double mag pouch - Custom order for 92 Stock

Price
$129.69 for the holster and double mag pouch

Design
Outside the waistband, open top with minimal retention. Low cut front and custom open molded muzzle to clear the barrel nut. IDPA legal

Features
Optional belt loop/paddle attachment. Kydex construction with three adjustment screws.

Pros
Definitely a rugged holster. Plastic has come a long way and this will definitely provide a fast draw/reholster and protect your sidearm. Should last a lifetime or two. Maintenance is almost non existent other than checking the tension screws now and then. Perfect for competition or hunting where a fast draw and easy access are essential.

Cons
The holster is somewhat noisy on the draw due to the material used but it actually sits fairly close to the body. Wouldn't be too difficult to conceal in the winter. Really reaching here to find some Cons........it's a great holster.

Grade
A+ - I was originally told that construction would be completed on the 11th. I received the holster the 6th of Sept after ordering the 29th of Aug. That's 8 Days to make a custom holster!!! I also mentioned that I had some missing hardware and some was sent at no cost to me with my holster. Exceptional customer service for an exceptional product. I'll post a long term review after I use it a while.

Yup, those are 25yd groups people :)
Image
I requested the muzzle not be molded to clear the barrel nut. Had it been molded, the pistol would not have fit. Great job by the people at CompTac!!!
Image
The pistol snaps into place perfectly. There's no play and the draw is quick and clean. Plenty of room in the sight channel for Combat style high rise sights if needed.

I hope the one that I ordered last weeks gets here as fast as yours did.

Great pictures, but whose targets are those? :smilelol5:

Comp-Tac's customer service is great. I was trying to order a slide version of the M-TAC so that I could fit any of my 1911's in it. They explained that they were having some problems with the design that caused the thumb safety to become disengaged on occasion, so they scrapped the mold for now. I know that is what should be expected, but how many companies due that in lieu of making a few bucks? Few that I have come accross.

They are always pleasant and helpful when I call. :tiphat: to Comp-Tac
