Kid loses bet, must endure 30.06 inches from ear

Why do people do stupid things? Why risk your life for something silly? I can only hope it's fake.

If it's real, I honestly don't get it. Makes me wonder what bet he lost.

When I first saw the title of this post I thought it was going to be a picture of a kid that had to stand next to a 30.06 sign and get ridiculed for having to post one. :biggrinjester:

At least stupidity with guns isn't restricted to Americans.

During the slow-mo part, it looks like he is flinching forward before the shot.

:iagree: , plus if you look at it, perspective is off. If it was one video frame, you would be able to tell which side of him he shot across. It looks like he is shooting right at him.

Sheerest stupidity but I doubt the hearing loss will be total, permanently damaged, yes, but not total.

I suffered a couple of muzzle blasts that would be considered similar to that in my youth, and I suffer for it every day, all day long, courtesy of the US Navy. We were issued cotton for hearing protection when firing five inch guns, which did a pretty good job of soaking up the blood when your eardrums tore, but not much else. I had a Garand fired past my ear when a boot tried to clear a jam and swung the rifle around past my head.

Still just plain stupid.

To the Navy's credit I have lost most of my hearing in both ears. I wear hearing aids now and still have a hard time understanding what someone is saying. I was the mount captain in a dual 5" mount...and in those days we didn't have any ear protection outside of the sound phones to keep in touch with combat control, and like you said maybe a piece of cotton!

When your young you don't think about the consequences of your stupid tricks, and I'm sure this guy will never forget this one.

I about got backhanded out of the duckblind on old lost river when I was younger...I had a Winchester 20Ga youth model and even though I was standing on the seat in the blind and my dad was standing in the bottom when the ducks would come by I would swing wide with my dad and older brother and end up touching off about 4 inches above and to the right of my dads ear ear, he was NOT a happy camper, and after the chewing I got I learned muzzle awareness big time!

Mine was an accident, these guys did that stupidity on purpose...I bet when he is 40 and has lost the majority of hearing in that ear he will look back and say "Man was I stupid!"

I can say with a sure amount of certainty that it is fake. My buddy and I were squirrel hunting when we were teenagers. I had a Remington 1100 that I used and we were sneaking side x side along watching the trees for squirrels. My buddy was on the right side of me and a squirrel jumped from the ground and starting running along the top of a fallen tree. I shouldered and shot twice and I felt my buddy's hand on my shoulder as he went to his knees. I freaked thinking something had happened, but the concussion of the shot had knocked him silly for a couple of seconds. He was just slightly behind the muzzle when I shot as he didn't see me stop and shoulder the gun.

Besides, that guy would more than likely has blood running from his ear from a ruptured ear drum.
