Range report - Ed Brown Kobra Carry KC-SS-A

Post by AEA »

Took my new Ed Brown Stainless Kobra Carry to the range today for 200 rounds.
The gun is a dream to shoot. The Sights were dead on and I was doing 1" groups at 35ft with normal two hand shooting.
That's good for me!

I was using my normal Wilson 8 round mags and the pistol failed to feed on the 2nd round a few times. It was not a complete lockup, I just pulled the slide back and then it took the round. I tried 3 different Wilson 47D's I had with me and it happened on all three of them. I have read where Ed Browns do not like Wilson Mags, but I have used them in all my .45's and have been quite happy with them.

I went ahead and ordered 3 of the NEW (Jul '08) Ed Brown "8 Pack" mags today and will see if they work any better. They have metal followers and although I am not a fan of metal followers, but what the heck, I will try them in this gun anyway. I have also ordered a Wolff 20# recoil spring for this gun. I like Wolff springs as opposed to stock springs.

Short report, but what else can I say..........
I love this gun! :fire :txflag: :thewave

Note: the attached picture of the KC is not actually my gun. STOLEN picture! Other's take better pictures than me! :smilelol5:

A pistol as pricey as an Ed Brown ought to function 100% with any quality magazine.

Was it 100% with the magazines that came with the gun?

It only came with one 7 rounder and I never even tried it.

It's a pretty tight gun, compared to most 1911's I have owned. I am sure it will be fine after the necessary break-in. I only have 200 rounds in it so far.

I am sure I will be quite happy when I get the Wolff spring into it as well.
Heck, I'm happy already, regardless of the cost! It is a beautiful, well made pistol.
