Two Tone PX4
I have a Beretta PX4 and I saw a picture on the "post a pic of your daily carry" post of someone that had a PX4 with a polished slide and I want to know who did, what they used and how much it might cost. Is there any adverse effect of turning a gun two tone when it did not come like that. Any ideas or info in general would be very helpful...thanx

depends on what you want done.. if you want the slide parkerized, or CBN coated, all kinds of other cool stuff they can do to give that cool look. I want to get my P11 slide CBN coated soon, just need another weapon around to carry when i sent it off.

This is what I am talking about. Who has this weapon and what did it take to get the slide polished?

Why don't you just send kauboy a PM and ask him directly?

I read a little bit more in the original post and he said he just sanded it. I'm a little hesitant to take sand paper to my pistol I guess. If I could get mine to look like that and all I had to do is take some sand paper and time to it that would be awesome. I am nervous about devaluing my pistol or just plain old messin it up. Let me know what ya'll think about some sanding action on it?

I'd be interested in whatever you find out about the process if you don't mind updating this thread. I've got a PX4 as well and really like the look of the one you posted.

Just plain wicked is the description I gave, but I will keep everyone updated.

Take the slide to a gun smith and have them bead blast it ... The sides will be shiny and finish free. Also it will not harm the metal
Re: Two Tone PX4
I don't think a gun smith will be able to retain the detail that he got from sanding it. He only polished the raised parts and kept the coating on the recessed bits. The contrast makes it look that much better in my opinion. I'll make some calls for sure.

That is true ... bead blasting would strip it clean, grooves and all. You may want to "sand" using some 600 or higher grit paper. it will be slow but not take the metal off with the finish.
Re: Two Tone PX4
Some people have sent their slide to Robar and had it NP3'd. I'd do that. By polishing off that finish that way, U will have a greater risk to rust. I'd hard chrome or NP3 it.
Re: Two Tone PX4
I just read a reply from Kauboy and he said with the bare metal exposed it does require some maintenance to keep it from rusting. I like the look of it a lot, but there again I don't want to de-value my weapon and I believe it would. So now I am on the fence about what to do or not to do. Let me know if anyone else is thinking about it too.

Re: Two Tone PX4
A weapon will usually devalue, no matter what, unless it becomes a collectors item or is kept pristine for 20+. Unless you make it really ugly or ruin the finish, I doubt it will devalue it any more than normal depreciation. I personally think the customizing that Kauboy did would make it more desirable for someone to buy later (not necessarily price, but in uniqueness.)RECIT wrote:...... but there again I don't want to de-value my weapon.....

Re: Two Tone PX4
Go with the NP3. It's a great finish and will last a good long time. Polish the slide with flitz until you get it to sparkle if you like. It comes out looking like stainless with a more nickel-like color to it. I've seen allot of Berettas get NP3'd and when buffed out, they look just like stainless. Very purdy. Also makes clean up a breeze.
