For what ever its worth this day and time. I renewed my Texas CHL, it was set to expire the last week of October. I sent in my packet and it was received by DPS in Austin on AUGUST 12, 2008. My New CHL was mailed on OCTOBER 1, 2008. And it arrived on OCTOBER 6, 2008.
It was my first renewal and I have a CHL so I don't have to go through Brady Checks. I retired after almost 35 years in LE so carrying is not a problem.
I was glad that Austin didn't take till after my CHL expired to get me my renewal.
It took 12 days to get my orginal CHL, but then again I was a Federal LEO at the time.

Renewal of CHL
From this day to the ending of the world we in it shall be remembered. We lucky few, we band of brothers. For he who today sheds his blood with me shall be my brother. CURRAHEE

Re: Renewal of CHL
Good to see them turning renewals around for others within a reasonable time. Mine too recently took "only" about 7 weeks door to door.
And, btw, "Old Timer", welcome back to the forum. You've taken some "vacations", huh?
