Well, more and more people keep asking, so I guess I'll just post it. They were going for about $560, which is below MSRP, but well above show prices. There are no more shows in Houston prior to 11/4, so I made the decision to eat the $100 in order to escape paying more, or possibly not being able to find any, later. They do offer layaway if you happen to catch them with one in stock.

I'm a couple of weeks out in buying,so I'm probably gonna be looking for one for awhile as I'm sure that ONE will sell quickly..

Got mine from Clughog - galesgunworks@aol.com. I believe he is a member here. He is at many of the shows in Dallas. Just tell him what you are looking for, and he will watch for it. Nice guy. Great prices too.

To update...

I took my wife out to range today so that she could try out her new toy (yes, she's claimed it already :grumble ). Other than the slide being a bit hard to work for her, she's absolutely fallen in love with it. Truth be told, I bought it so that she would have something small to carry in her purse or car, so the fact that she's commandeered it was really expected. She's far more accurate with it than she was with either my Walther or the old Glock, and she was able to paint the target almost completely green.

On another note, I felt it was time to play my first (harmless, I swear) gun prank on her. I took out the old 30-30 for her to try her first rifle, telling her not to worry, because the kick is very mild (*snicker*). There was definitely much yelling after the first shot, because she didn't seem to appreciate the recoil almost knocking her backward out of her seat. Of course, she eventually lightened up and asked if we could install a better recoil pad, because she did think it was kind of fun after her 3rd or 4th shot.

All in all, a good day, followed by bacon wrapped fillets and brisket with a good red zin....mmmmm, bacon.

agbullet2k1,

ANYONE who does not properly advise the person shooting a weapon for the first time of the recoil, much less understates it on purpose, is being VERY irresponsible. That is a good way to get someone to never shoot again, or worse, injured. :mad5

Well, as I certainly don't want people thinking I'm into pulling jokes like that out of meanness, I'll admit I added elements to that part of story for dramatic effect. Really, I joked with her that the recoil was nothing, but I said it the way you tell a kid that the flu shot will only be a little prick. She knew I was lying just to make her more comfortable (we know to expect pranks from each other quite a bit, so we're always skeptical of each others' sheepish grins, which I could not hide). I certainly wasn't going to let her shoot it without knowing that her shoulder was going to be sore the next day and made sure to even do a demo shot to show her how to operate it. Even after I told her to prepare to be bruised, she still didn't appreciate the kick she was about to receive, and as a result I got accused by her of not telling her, which I most certainly did. So in her mind, I set her up, which I really did't. Makes for a funnier story that way I think. She told me now that she wants a rifle of her own now, although something smaller perhaps, so she must have still enjoyed herself.

Sorry, didn't mean to ruffle feathers.
