be the first to call 911

Edited, thanks to SeamusTX, with the real story:

AUSTIN, Texas (KXAN) -- John Crayton, 26, is recovering after being shot while robbing another man in his home. Austin Police said it happened early Saturday in the University Apartments located on East Oltorf Street. Two victims called police saying they shot a man who was inside their apartment.

That man police later identified as Crayton. He apparently was hiding in a closet waiting for them to return. Crayton robbed one young man at gunpoint for three dollars and a pack of Marlboro Lights cigarettes. The other victim made a surprising move. He pulled a gun and shot Crayton in the stomach.

Police said Crayton escaped, ran to his apartment, which was around the corner from the shooting scene, and called 911, too. Crayton told police a man shot him in the parking lot of his South Pleasant Valley Road apartment.

Detectives realized Crayton fit the description of the suspect in the earlier shooting. He was taken to Brackenridge Hospital for his injury and later charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.
