CHL Qualifications Question.

Post by XD9 »

So I took my CHL class this weekend and passed :)
So before I mailed my application I wanted to make sure every thing was straight.
I had my identity stolen in the past so I wanted to make sure I was all clear (believe me having your identity stolen is not fun!!!)
It all came back ok except...
When I ran my Credit Report I found a State Tax Lien on my Credit... what the heck!
#1 I all ways pay my TAXES!
#2 I dont own any property not even a car!
#3 How this got in my credit?!?

How bad will this affect me on getting my CHL?!?

I am going to call the IRS tomorrow and find out whats going on...
I was never notify of any Tax issues... If There is some thing that I know is NOT TO MESS WITH THE IRS!

Why would you contact the IRS about a state tax lien?

The state puts on a state tax lien.

One question that needs to be satisfied is what kind of tax, the State of Texas has no income tax, so it can't be that.

And then find out how it got there, what court, what agency, right down to identifying who they think owes the tax and how they identified them.

Until you get it straightened out I would not bother to file the CHL paperwork.

Ok I just called the comptrollers office. It looks like it was an issue back in 99 but it got dismissed in 2000 so they told me I am in no way delinquent. I did requested a copy of the dismissal so I can send it to the the Credit Bureau and get that removed. Am I good now to send in my CHL paper work?

Thank You!
