DFW Gun Range incident

Post by AG-EE »

A man was shot at the DFW gun range yesterday. The news info was sketchy, but they speculated it was a suicide. I hope txinvestigator is OK.

When it rains, it pours, huh? I don't even think they have the roof fixed yet.

Man dies from shot to head at shooting range

05:22 AM CDT on Thursday, May 11, 2006

From Staff Reports

Police were investigating the fatal shooting of a man at the DFW Gun Range at 1607 W. Mockingbird Lane on Wednesday evening.

The man, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, fired a few rounds from a handgun into a target before he was found shot in the head, patron Daniel Bega said. Dallas police Sgt. J.W. Almy said the death appeared to be suicidal or accidental since no one was near the man at the time.

Bad news travels fast.................

I am fine. I don't think the M. E. has made an "official" ruling yet, but it was suicide.

As you can imagine, we have been asked to be discrete about this.

Yes, it does seem to be pouring.

This is really sad. I am glad that there were no other injuries resulting from the shooting. NO matter how much of this stuff I am around (and I have been around a great deal of it) suicide bothers me more than anything else I am exposed to.
I am sorry that your staff and patrons had to deal with this stuff directly.

The burning question is, was it a rented gun or did the guy bring his own?
I hope it was his own.

Actually, I've got another burning question. And I'm not trying to be funny...But I am curious to know if it was it a Darwin Award nominee or was it a truly disturbed person?
When you take the time out of your day to beat someone, it has a much longer lasting effect on their demeanor than simply shooting or tazing them.

There a similar incident at Target Master's in Garland a few years ago. It is sad.

I've got the same question too, but I'm more concerned that the gun range doesn't get into problems. If somebody wants to commit suicide why involve innocent others.

I've always thought it was Internet rumors (regarding suicide w/ rental guns) that caused all the ranges to stop renting guns to single shooters w/o his/her own gun. I hope this person used his own gun so I don't have to go back and correct myself.
