Excellent.
Maybe we should make it a requirement to be an NRA member to post on this site.

What about those of us who chose, for whatever reason, to support other pro-2A organizations? I have some fundamental philosophical issues with how the NRA operates (and this isn't the time or place to go into it). So my dues money goes to the GOA. Does this mean I'm persona non grata here?anygunanywhere wrote:Maybe we should make it a requirement to be an NRA member to post on this site.

I would rather see it mandatory that all CHL instructors visit this board 5 days a week. A good arguement can be made that the NRA stands in the way of the RKBA sometimes. They will oppose other antigun movements to the detriment of of the cause. There are thousands of folks who are for the RKBA who will not join the NRA because the NRA often treats them like the enemy.anygunanywhere wrote:Excellent.

I can list a whole bunch of reasons why I was real reluctant to join the NRA, but I decided the battle we are about to enter is too important and that I might be able to influence them more from within. than hollering from outside. Besides they have kewl baseball caps

Liberty... saw you post in another thread on this and someone thanked you. I offer my thanks as well. It is going to take a unified effort by everyone to fight this and it could very well be a losing battle, but i couldn't live with myself if i didn't try.Liberty wrote: but I decided the battle we are about to enter is too important and that I might be able to influence them more from within. than hollering from outside. This video on England has been posted here before... it should be a sticky.

Thank You for your continued support Russell.
The NRA is not "perfect" but they remain the strongest force/voice for gun owners.
I just wish more Hunters and Sportsmen would join.

I just renewed mine after a many year absence. What's that old saw? "Now is the time for all good men (and women) to come to the aid of their country"... or, something like that.

It would do a whole lot more good if every pro-Second Amendment group would band together and present a united front to the country and keep their disagreements behind closed doors where they belong. Am I advocating collusion? You betcha!
You ever hear of the various gun banning groups' disagreements? But I bet they have them.
If the GOA and NRA (to name two) would stop fighting each other and direct the full force of their energies towards the real enemy, our combined cause would be unstoppable.

Re: Just renwed NRA membership. Felt good!
Upped my membership to Life and donated some more money.
I looked at the GOA website but it seemed a little amateurish, repetitive and shrill. I liked some of its sources and references and believe that it makes a good academic site for the subject of gun control. I wouldn't go so far as to join it, yet.
I also note some folks on this site stating that the NRA does not support the RKBA. Am I reading this correctly?

Re: Just renwed NRA membership. Felt good!
I thought about re-upping my Life Membership so that when I am reincarnated, I'll come out of the womb already a Life Member.
but then I thought about the possibility of coming back as a cat or something, so I figured the money could be better suited elsewhere....

FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.

Yeah, I mean.....who really cares about the NRA when you're trying to cough up a hair-ball.

I may have stated that the NRA doesn't support RKBA candidates or Party. The NRA refuses to rate Libertarian candidates.Purplehood wrote: I also note some folks on this site stating that the NRA does not support the RKBA. Am I reading this correctly?

Same here. I had gotten a 5-year membership back in 1999, but due to extenuating circumstances, I never renewed until recently, but I did so with a lifetime membership.Oldgringo wrote:I just renewed mine after a many year absence.
