Pasadena Gun Show
High Caliber Gun Show at Convention Center this weekend. I'm sure it will be as busy the others have been...which I hope will help me sell my Steyr M9-A1. Going to start saving up to get a Springfield EMP.

Are ammo prices better than Academy or Wally World?

Re: Pasadena Gun Show
Depends on the caliber, brand and quantity. I usually find that 100 round packs of Winchester White Box is the best real at Wal-Mart. On 50 round boxes, if you don't mind Monarch or Blazer aluminum, then Academy is usually better.Bart wrote:Are ammo prices better than Academy or Wally World?

Thank you.
Saves me some gas and the cover charge so I can spend more money on ammo!

Re: Pasadena Gun Show
Plus, by Sunday, there may not be any ammo for sale there.
Anyone who reads my posts knows that I try to make every show. Since the crowded fiasco at Conroe, I waited for reports on last week's GRB show and this week's Pasadena show.
In both cases, I was told that prices were completely outrageous on semi's and ammunition and that the shows were so crowded that I wouldn't be able to take it.
I was told that the dealer who sell's the Wolf had to restock from his truck three times today and could be out of much by tomorrow. By the same token, I heard that Darrel Pocock was selling ammo like crazy.
So I am intentionally missing two nearby shows in a row rather than fight the crowds and be a part of the madness.

Sounds like the troops are arming up. Ammo sales are running at the same pace as gun sales.Mike1951 wrote:Plus, by Sunday, there may not be any ammo for sale there.

Supplying a shooting hobby which uses 50 rounds a week, a person would need 11,000+ rounds to outlast the presidential administration.

Re: Pasadena Gun Show
Prices were obviously going to be inflated because of the demand...I actually didn't buy me a thing for myself yesterday...I bought a case for my Dad and that was about it...So that was a revenue neutral purchase...
Firearms prices seemed to be a little on the steep side for some of the interesting (off nominal) demand types, models and manufacturers...
I was actually looking for a standard .387 snubby type revolver (S&W) and thought the prioces were absolutely abhorant...$425 for a 2" snubby .38???
Is it just me or am I being a little picky??? I always thought those would only go for about $325 tops...And the Airweights??? $700+
Geesh...
Granted, this was a spur of the moment thought of mine, as a gift to the wife this Christmas, since she said those looked "neat"...So call me mentally imbalanced...
Just seems to me that the upcoming administration has been the best thing to happen to gunshow vendors in a long time...I'm all for folks making $$$, but not $$$$$, just because of the panic...

Re: Pasadena Gun Show
Additional thoughts...
My friend and I got to the show rather early yesterday, and were the first two in the door Saturday morning...Kinda neat...
What got me was the line behind us...I figured there was about 400 people + waiting to get in behind us, maybe more...
With all the hype and panic buying going on, outside the normal regular gunshow crowd, it seems to me that after the Conroe show, the GRB last weekend and this Pasadena show this weekend, you would think this would have drawn the media into the fray, just to cover a group of people massing for such an event???
Not a peep, not a local, national, or other media person was evident at this event...Not that I expected, but you'd think that all the hype would have drawn some attention to such a newsworthy event...
And it is obvious that this is not just happening here...It is happening ALL over the country...We have seen a smidgen of main-stream media coverage...The discussions on some blogs and other internet websites have been more frequent, but not a lot of TV coverage...
The advertising, and radio ads have been noticed by some of us, but the impact medium called TV has been rather sparce to non-existant...
My thinking is that this mass buying is newsworthy and would send a very clear and concise message upstream within the ranks of our elected officials who may, or may not be proponents, of the Second Amendment and our right to keep and "buy" as many arms as we see fit...
Just thinking aloud here...

Re: Pasadena Gun Show
At least one of the local TV stations covered the GRB show last weekend. I just saw part of it.
BTW, 642's had been going for $370-$390. 637's maybe a bit cheaper.

There goes another $7 down the drain...My stamp washed off last night...

Academy's got a Rossi snubby .38 for $249 this week.stevie_d_64 wrote:I was actually looking for a standard .387 snubby type revolver (S&W) and thought the prioces were absolutely abhorant...$425 for a 2" snubby .38???

These gun show folks are definitely taking full advantage of the situation. However, after having gone to several before the election its easy to see why. Judging from the crowds and the lack of buying it didn't look like they were making much money. I've never bought anything at any of the local Houston shows, well, because I never saw anything that looked like a "gun show deal".
Re: Pasadena Gun Show
Stevie, I meant previously as a comparison to your observed $425 price.stevie_d_64 wrote:Well, shoot...(pardon the pun)Mike1951 wrote:At least one of the local TV stations covered the GRB show last weekend. I just saw part of it.

I did not intend to convey that they could be bought this weekend for that.

Going to work on a realistic needs list, and make most of those purchases, non-gunshow purchases...
