Where to purchase in Houston? Got some cash to spend.

agbullet2k1, thanks for the suggestions. My F-I-L bought several guns from Marburger's, so I've been meaning to check them out, and I completely forgot about Carter's Country!
Oh yeah, and as for the Millennium I am going to check and make sure it is a 3rd generation model. It's not such a hot deal if it is for old stock of the previous models. The biggest difference is that the 3rd gen. is SA/DA, and the 1st & 2nd were DAO.

The one pictured looks to be DAO. Wouldn't a DA/SA have a hammer?
Marburger's is a good shop. I was in there a couple weeks ago, they've got a good selection of Kimbers.

Hey, dont forget we can still sell guns face to face in Texas, and there are plenty of folks here on the Forum who might have something you want. Check out the classifieds.
I have a .44 mag Im trying to sell there, and Ive seen alot of real good deals. You dont nessesarily have to go retail, and you might find a decent deal on what you are looking for. As a plus, the vast majority of us here take great care of our guns and are decent people who wont sell you junk without saying so.

I stopped by Academy today to check out the PT-111. They said they couldn't even let me look at one prior to Friday 5am. But they did have their gun stats book and showed me the page. It says DAO, so the ad is a misprint and the guns are new old stock. I told the sales guy that they might get some complaints...he didn't seem to care much. I don't blame him, there were at least 15 other people crowding the counter buying up guns.

When you work at Academy or any other store of that type, you don't have to care....he didn't seem to care much.

That's disappointing. I wonder how possible it is that their stats book is just off, or was it a stat specifically for the gun that was going to be for sale on Friday?bridge wrote:I ...they did have their gun stats book and showed me the page. It makes sense that it would be new old stock. We used to do that at another large retailer I worked at. They would make a special deal with a vendor to buy thousands of a discontinued item and sell them at an unbelievable price.
Personally, I don't think this is a very good deal unless it's the 3rd gen model. I guess there's no way to no for sure until Friday morning?
Re: Where to purchase in Houston? Got some cash to spend.
I have every intention of being at Academy at 5am Friday.
I'll try to take a look and post back here when I get home.
After all, the PT-111 is on sale thru Sunday.

It is on sale through the weekend, but it doesn't do much good if they're sold out!
In any case, please do post back what you find. According to Taurusarmed.net:

And 3rd gen 9mm have 12 round magazinesFirst Generation
* The guns were marked only as Millennium
* All were DAO
Second Generation
* The guns were marked as Millennium Pro
* Magazines were modified and will not interchange with First Generation models
Third Generation
* The word "Pro" was moved from the left side where it read "Millennium Pro" to the right side where it reads "PT145 Pro"
* The sights are dovetailed into the slide rather than screw mounted
* The guns are now SA/DA rather than the traditional DAO
Re: Where to purchase in Houston? Got some cash to spend.
Whats the difference between the 111 and the 145? Are they the same? However, both the pic on the website and the book at the store show only "Millennium" on the side. So it seems to be first generation, I think. I might be there at 5am as well just to make sure I don't miss a good deal.

Can't help you with the where in Houston but I can offer some suggestions for the what.
For your daily carry at work, check out the Kel-Tec PF9, or Kahr PM9, or maybe even the Para PDA 9mm or 45ACP.
http://www.kel-tec-cnc.com/pf9.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.kahr.com/PA-1_9mm_pm.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.para-usa.com/new/product_pistol.php?id=66" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.para-usa.com/new/product_pistol.php?id=67" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Get a WRB pocket Holster fro them.
http://www.wrbss.com/pocketholsters.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The Kel Tec is going to be the lightest with the Kahr being close behind. The Para is by far going to be the heaviest.
For daily carry away from work there are literally tons of options and only you can choose that but for a holster I recommend the Comp-Tac MTAC. Get a good sturdy gun belt to go with it and you'll forget your even carrying. Most people overlook the importance of a good gun belt.

Update: the gun at Academy is NOT the "Pro" version.
Ugh... Oh well, this gives me a good reason to head off to the Arms Room later today. I'd rather support a local in any case.

Haha, Mike I see you over at Taurusarmed.net too!Mike1951 wrote:You beat me to it! It is the FIRST gen PT-111.

Are you sure it's 1st gen? I was thinking it was 2nd, but it's definitely not 3rd.
