Carry on lakes managed by Army Corp of Engineers.

Post by Weg »

Does anyone know what the deal is with this. I fish in Canyon Lake alot and can' t seem to figure out if I can have a gun ( I'm CHL ) on me, if I am always in my boat on the water and never put in or out in a Army Corps of Engineer park or ramp. To make thing more confusing, I put in upriver on the Guadalupe at a Comal county ramp ( or used to until they closed it because of low water ) . If I am not allowed to carry on the lake, at what point does the river become the lake, and who would I go to, to get the answer. Thanks

I posted this in a previous thread. This is concerned with TPWD lakes, but if it isn't on the list. It is most likely Corps of Engineers (CoE) property.

CoE lakes are under Federal jurisidiction, so Texas CHL carry is off-limits for Canyon Lake, water and land.

I'm not sure who to ask about actual boundaries. You might start with the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority:

Also found this site. Use the drop-down menu to find a lake. If it is on the list, then you definitely do not want to be caught carrying there.
