CHL Target

Post by getnit1 »

Does anyone have a link or picture of/to the target that is being used for CHL at this time. I saw some at the range after a class and it was not the same I used the times I took the class. My wife is taking hers Saturday and wanted to make sure the points are the same.

Thanks

DPS changed from the TX-PT target to the NRA B-27. They did it because they had a young Trooper killed in a gunfight and he was shooting high and over the shoulders of his assailant. The move to the B-27 was to bring the point of aim back to the true center of mass and it was done not only for CHLs, but in DPS training as well.

Here is an example

Image

Scoring is (IIRC)
8,9 and 10 rings = 5 points
7 ring = 4 points
on target, outside rings = 3 points

Tell your wife - truthfully - it's actually somwhat easier to shoot a good score on the new one. That oblong "5 point" ring is about 16" vs. 12" on the old circle.

Thanks for all the input. These are the targets we have been practicing on. I shot the original one. I saw on the target's we saw at the range the scoring. The ones I have did not have the CHL scoring as far as 8,9 and 10 ring are 5 points. She should do fine then.

Thanks again
