Students for Concealed Carry - Take action

Post by kalipsocs »

Just passing this on. Received this in a general message from Michael Guzman, president of Students for Concealed Carry on Campus Texas State Univ.

"There are a few legislators in Amarillo that could vote either way on the upcoming bill to allow CHL holders to carry on campus. A local news station has a poll about whether they support the bill or not and we're losing badly. It only takes a second and every vote will help."

Plan to call the state rep either today or tomorrow. Suggest you guys and gals do the same if you support this. Thanks people.

Do you think concealed weapons should be allowed on college campuses?

Who came up with that?

How about: "Should Licensed Concealed Carry be allowed on Campus"?

KVII has just gotten worse and worse over the yrs for poorly worded articles, and not writing all the facts.. I write the editors complaints all the time, doesn't change anything, but makes me feel better

I was going to post up the poll and have you guys vote, but really, it says concealed carry. Not licensed conceal carry. Needs to be worded correctly, and I think the vote would go the other way..

They are a small TV station (I mean not a multi-station company). They drop the ball on more than just this. Nothing makes me more mad than when I am watching an HD show. The switch to a Non-HD signal for a local commercial and then forget to put it back on HD for the show. Sometimes (most of the time) you just get black for a minute till someone sees "Opps no HD signal is being sent" plus their stupid "Green" crap [sarcasm on] makes me wonder why I watch them instead of the other channels [sarcasm off]

It looks like it got someone's attention.. Since this was posted, I've seen 600 new votes. It was up for about a week without than many votes.. Still not sided like we all wish it would be, but at least people are expressing their option's... I still wish they would have worded that correctly.. It's not like it's an official poll, but it does give a small idea of what kind of fight we are in for on the subject..

Aric: I only watch satellite so I wouldnt know about all of that. I visit their website several times a day, as I do the others.

"should legal adults be treated like legal adults and be allowed to "flex" all of their legal rights?" Duh.

Actually, it doesn't even hint at "Concealed Carry" (as we know it).

Look at the wording:
Do you think concealed weapons should be allowed on college campuses?
Either... this question was carefully crafted to omit that scary word "gun", or it was written by someone with poor communication skills.

The average person (without CHL on their mind)...would read the poll question and most likely conclude that "weapon" means: Knife, club, hammer, etc...and that the only reason to conceal it is to keep it hidden until used in a crime.

This issue of Concealed Carry of a HANDGUN on campus has been raised before. If the poll had stated the question plainly...no one would be left confused as to what the word "weapon" represents.

I mean really....how hard is this: Do you support, Licensed Concealed Carry of a handgun on a College Campuses? Yes_____ No_____

A "journalist" can't get this right? :???:

Ah, I totally over looked that :banghead:

Your right though about the way things were worded, and how it should be worded..

I used to think of firearms along with weapon's before I took the CHL class. Never thought about it before actually.. I sure dont think of it like that now though.
