Food for thought

Post by HankB »

This situation didn't involve me directly, but I was close, and it hasn't been resolved yet.

On my regular daily commute, I pass the "Steiner Ranch" housing development. Just recently - the Friday after Thanksgiving - a brand new, upscale steak house opened there - the Steiner Ranch Steakhouse. http://steinersteakhouse.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Haven't tried it yet, but the early reviews suggest it's rather more expensive than Outback. (One review said the tab for their party "averaged" about $75 apiece, which included some drinks.)

Today on the way home from work, just after I passed it while southbound on FM620, a host of police vehicles headed the other way at high speed with lights and sirens - an "unmarked" Charger, two sheriff's cars, even a couple of vehicles from the LCRA. So I figured something happened.

Unfortunately, it had.

It turned out that shortly before their 4:00 PM opening, a 30 year old steakhouse employee was shot and killed. The perp was apparently known to someone who witnessed it, as his name and age have been all over the local news. (Owner claimed he was a busboy who'd walked off the job.) After the murder, he apparently just walked out the front door, got in his car, and drove off. His car was found abandoned a short distance away, but the perp is at large.

This is a nice area, it's an "upscale" restaurant . . . things like this aren't supposed to happen in places like this.

But they do.

So . . . be aware, bad things can happen anywhere, anytime. Be prepared.
