2 questions about .40 S&W 141gr Disintegrator Frangible ammo

Post by daddySEAL »

First I bought some of this stuff by Remington because it was said to be "sub-sonic" and a good home defense round because it tended to not go thru strong walls and cause as much damage to the house, or family in other rooms.

1st question)...But does it Not have any fragmentation IN the "bad guy" at all?

2nd question)...with a low grain slug, will it have trouble cycling and ejecting? Most of my pistols are not quite broken yet with new/tight guide springs. The 180 grain ammo I've used never has failed to rack the slide back fully to eject and cycle a new round...but I've gotten FTEs, double feeds and stovepipes with even 165 gr. .40 ammo. with these "new" pistols.
ARE the 141s heavy enough to Not cause those unacceptable problems?

thanks,
dS

The only way to know is to shoot them - a lot of them, with zero malfunctions. BTW, there are no magic bullets (despite what you paid per round for the hype).

If it penetrates flesh it will penetrate wall board. I would recommend a shotgun for home defense.
It can happen here.

Forget the fancy ammo and go with something that a major law enforcement agency had used and been happy with the results of.

Excellent advice.

You can't possibly do the type of in depth testing these agencies do to make sure their loads deliver the required performance.

Using anything else is a gamble you can't afford to lose.
