Most of us have drawers with stuff in them that did not work for us. Gun holsters, mag holders, and probably a few belts are thrown in there as well.

I have 5 or six gun belts from various manufacturers, and in fact, that is all I buy. I even us a gun belt for work. I find they are more durable than the wally world belts especially aftrer years of wearing radios and toxic gas monitors we have to wear at work.

I wear belts with all of my britches. unless I am just slumming around the house on a day off sipping my first cup o' joe.

I got my 2 belts from Dillards last year before getting my CHL, and they work quite well now that I have it. They're 1.5 inch, not too thick, and dressy. I think the main thing is to avoid cheap Walmart types for carry. Something doesn't have to be specifically designated a "gun belt" for it to work as one.

True that.

When I carry with a belt, I am using a stiff nylon belt from REI, works for me, but I am not trying to carry a heavy gun or other equipment like a lot of spare mags, flashlight, or BUG, etc.

Even though I know you mean well, it really would be unusual for anyone to interpret that as a "friendly suggestion".
It was intended to be very friendly. I see some interesting ideas in your posts, but you seem not to enjoy the forum experience as much as you could because you expend a lot of effort in responding to perceived offense where none is intended. The current post above is an example.

I rarely see anything on this board that I could reasonably consider a truly offensive affront to you or to anyone else. There are lots of differing opinions on many issues here, and they're expressed strongly and with passion. That's as it should be, and is why it's called a forum instead of a curriculum.

This is Texas, not California or Massachusetts. Folks on this forum are outspoken about things they feel passionately about, and active members can expect to generate some heated controversy with their posts. It's not a place for the thin skinned, but it's a real good place to find a very active interplay of ideas about things folks who are interested in protecting themselves want to know about.

Responses to some of my own posts have sometimes abeled my thoughts as submissive, cowardly, bogus, etc. I try to focus on the members' ideas rather than taking personal offense at these responses. My replies are sometimes equally strong, and while I take pains to never give intentional offense, I also am sometimes less than gentle when I consider it necessary in order to make a point I consider to have some importance.

Seriously - try taking a deep breath, chill out, kick back, and enjoy the interplay of ideas without thinking the forum members are out to disrespect you in some way. There's a lot of good stuff here for everyone, and the spirited exchange of strongly held ideas really can be fun.

Abraham,
My $.02: I don't think you can expect to be perfectly comfortable carrying a gun in all situations. Compromise and doing the best you can is the way to look at it. I have 3 gun belts. They all work better to carry a gun than any of my regular old belts.

I'm only comfortable if my belt is too loose to carry a gun in tight and not shifting around. Matter of fact I like elastic waist band pants with a drawstring best, most comfortable. Not at all suitable for holster carry. I use a fanny pack alot. I can wear it loose and let it flop around.
If I want to IWB carry, I just cinch up the belt and live with it. It's not bad, just less comfortable. If I sit a lot or eat to much I just let the belt out a notch but if I get up to walk around my gun moves around.
I guess comfort is a personal thing that is not the same for everybody.

I have a gun belt that I wear when Im not pocket carrying. It is stiff and I suffer from dunlop disease. The belt is fine when Im standing, but when I sit for a period of time, it does dig in.

I bought a new gun belt from Simply Rugged that's quite a bit thinner and far more comfortable. It's made from a single billet of steer hide.

Given that thick gun belts feel as uncomfortable as they do on me with a flat gut, I gotta wonder if my fellow handgun carriers with "dunlops" suffer, but just put up with it, thinking it's a gun belt and has to be thick, stiff and uncomfortable?
Of course it's all a matter of preference, but I just bought 2 gun belts from a local leather maker after reading the Beltman thread. I am also within my weight and don't know how I lived without these stiff strips of cow hide. To me it's the stiffness which makes it more comfortable, I don't feel the need to keep it as tight since it sort of holds itself up.

Simply rugged is great. I have one of their holsters for my redhawk.

I admit to not owning a gun belt. I have a heavy "work" belt made by carhart that does an admirable job, even with the bulky redhawk in place.

A $15 Wrangler belt from walmart is working fine for me. Granted, I've only worn it around the house and at IDPA, but it seems to be holding up fine

I have put on a few pounds(about 25 of them) the past 6 months and my jeans have gotten so tight, I can stick my IWB holster in my pants without a belt, and it won't move at all. My jeans start cutting into my waist, but the holster stays put.
