That's exactly what I mean. This didn't all just start happening last week. These propaganda pieces are designed to sway public opinion in support of a new "assault weapons" ban. They are timed in advance of that push to get people all worked up and ready to hop on board for it.

Why don't we just pressure Mexico to legalize guns for it's law abiding population like we do here so that they can protect themselves from the traffickers, thus lowering the homocide rate?

The Mexican government understands that when civilians start shooting bad guys, that mostly its gonna be Mexican government officials that are gonna be shot. Just because they are wearing a uniform doesn't mean they are the good guys.
