OC at Academy
They have several different types of OC at Academy. I bought a can made by MACE that says dog repellent. Any reason I shouldn't use it on bad guys in addition to bad dogs?

I may be wrong, but I was told that OC was first developed by the Postal Service as a dog repellent for their carriers. It was only after it worked there that it expanded into the police and self defense markets.
All OC is based on the same chemical, just in different strengths and with different carriers. I woul djust check the percentages to ensure it is as strong as it should be for humans (and not too strong where it could endanger health).

only thing I would check before depending on it, would be to check the OC level against other brands.

As a avid cyclist, I've used a number of the most commonly available OC sprays from Academy, Pro Defense, etc. Quite often,these products didn't deter the dogs that chased me.
Eventually, I found Fox Labs spray and it worked fairly well, but I still wasn't completely satisfied.
I now use Freeze Plus P (a combination of OC and tear gas) and when chased by the likes of: Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, German shepherds , Huskies, etc. this stuff has turned em all.
I put in a lot of miles in the course of any week and most in the country. Many of the folks out there allow their dogs free range and they invariably chase anyone on a bicycle.
The ones that really scare me are the ones that launch out of their yards WITHOUT barking and make a beeline for me.
Having this spray with me gives me great peace of mind.

I should've mentioned this before: Buy some Sudecon decontamination wipes when buying the spray.
If you happen to get some on yourself or someone else (it happened to a riding companion - a small amount drifting over on her after I sprayed an attacking dog) this stuff will be greatly appreciated.
If I remember right, they cost $1.50 per single wipe. I bought a half dozen at the time of purchase. Since then, I've used one on my friend. Per the instructions, it can take up to seven minutes to work, but in our case it worked immediately. Of course, it was a very light amount of contamination. However, even a "light" amount is dreadfully painful.
Very inexpensive when you need it.
