My New Carry Rig

Post by MTICop »

This is the holster I won In an auction back in August. It is from Bluegrass Holsters. I have to say I am well pleased with the holster (while wearing OWB) now that I have gotten it. I don't really like how it sits when in the IWB configuration but I have an idea of how to make this more my style and will do so soon. This is why we buy holsters though; to decide what we like and don't like. Brock, the owner of Bluegrass Holsters, stated he would send a new and improved IWB system that he was in the process of making and that will take care of the "natural" leather look that you will see in the picture below (IWB set-up). I think I am going to go a completely different route and get some J-hooks. I like those better than what I have right now. However, it is a quality holster and I wear it daily OWB. I just have to untuck my over-shirt. The extreme cant is perfect for me. I am not that big around and the extreme cant makes it easier to conceal, at least I feel better about it. The draw takes some getting used to but it isn't that hard to get used to. It made me practice and that is a good thing.

All in all, I am pleased with the outcome and will show you all the modification for IWB when I get it done. Pictures below:

No. The mag carriers are from Tucker. I bought them a while ago to go with my original IWB holster, but I like them as well.

Good looking rig & a good review. I want to see the J-hooks on it when you get it.

In that bottom picture, of you wearing the rig, it seems like it sits a lot higher than most IW holsters. Is it comfortable for you drawing from that high ride?

Really nice rig. I need to find a belt like that, my slide is starting to wear out my regular belt. Nice set-up.

I agree, it rides way too high for me. Drawing from that height very different. Even when I turned the two adjustment straps around, it was still too high for me. Some may like it but I don't. This is why I am going to modify the holster. I have an idea to make it sit a lot lower.I'm pretty sure it will work but haven't gotten to that yet. I will post again when it's done.

Are those mag pouches tuckable? They sure look like it.

Very nice looking rig. I prefer an extreme forward cant, I find it easier to conceal that way, also.
