I guess a felon who served his sentence could petition the governor for reinstatement of gun rights.
Is that what you allude to?
Well, a person with misdemeanor record still has a criminal record and can get a CHL after ten years, even with no pardon.

My friend had a felony arrest but couldn't find any record of it when he joined the Air Force. Someone posted a link to an article claiming that up to 1/3rd of felonies go away as a result of bad record keeping.

Also, someone with a legally obtained CHL could commit a felony, leaving a CHL with a felony for a short window before it's taken from him.

Another situation that comes to mind is if someone has an out of state license allowing them to carry in Texas, even if they wouldn't be eligible for a Texas CHL.

How about out-of-country records? i.e. - Someone with a green card and a perfectly legally obtained Texas CHL is wanted in Mexico for something or other. This is a stretch, and I'm not sure if it's possible, just thinking out loud.

...and if we wanted to get technical, we all have a record, it's just clean. :biggrinjester:

I've spent the last 15+ years in various management positions in Retail and HR and the only people I've ever met who understood the sign were fellow CHL holders.

In my opinion, there are several reasons it is posted:
* With full knowledge and intent - i.e. gun shows
* Because somebody from corporate sent them a packet of signs to post
* A friend/associate told the manager if they didn't then people could carry guns in their store

The challenge with those who post the sign without knowledge/intent is they generally do not understand or care about the impact on CHL holders. Talking to them is like my wife trying to explain the differences between two types of makeup base. I see her lips moving and I want to understand but it's just not in my DNA.
There are two types of makeup base?
I wouldn't have even gotten that much from the conversation...his listening skills are obviously superior.

I would think in the present economy that any store or retailer would not want to loose any customer. If they understand they are loosing customers, no matter what the percentage, it is going to hurt their pocket book and I do think we should let them know why we will take our business else where.
