Money quote:
[criminologist James Alan] Fox said less-stringent gun laws — and a tendency to treat people like heroes if they use violent means to defend themselves — could have contributed to what he said is a more general acceptance of deadly force.

“There's always been a self-defense element in law,” he said, “but what we've been telling people more and more is don't flee, and if you are afraid you can defend yourself.”
Imagine that, you don't have to run or grovel any longer. :banghead:

I see this as an all around good thing. Homicides overall are down. Good guy homicides are down. Bad guy homicides are up. What's not to like? :smilelol5:

To play devils advocate, perhaps something to dislike is that there will continue to be so many BGs around. An inevitable and unfortunate aspect of humanity I suppose.

I caught something on the news last night. They said homicides in 2008 are down in DFW compared to 2007, which follows the averages in the entire state. They went as far as saying homicides are up in Chicago, Washington DC, New York and another city. Aren't those three gun-free cities?

Actually, I'd like to think that the higher the BG homicide by CHLs rate gets, the lower the BG population gets. Be it by them choosing different professions or natural selection... :fire
