"Making" fellow CHLers at the tractor auction

Post by TheArmedFarmer »

Just a fun story to tell. I went to the Noonday Tractor auction yesterday and spent 8 and a half hours participating. It was a great time with around a thousand people coming and going (just estimating). A new (to me) tractor and 3 pieces of equipment followed me home.

I brought my ten year old daughter with me, and the two of us had fun "making" the carrying people around us. Each time you make someone, you score a point.

Step 1: Look for a vest or an untucked hawaii shirt.

Step 2: Look for the tell-tale bulge somewhere, usually at 3:00

Step 3: Score!

Step 4: Bonus points to try to guess what kind of pistol they are carrying and what kind of holster is used (IWB, OWB, etc).

We made 3 people at the auction. I really wanted to talk to them and ask what they were carrying, but my better judgment thankfully prevented me. As far as I know, I was not made by anybody. :cheers2:

I carry my blackberry in that position.
Please help the wounded store owner who fought off 3 robbers. He doesn't have medical insurance.

Sounds like you guys had a fun time...I do that too, just to see if I can "make" people. I dont ask them if they are carrying either. Just something fun to do and to see how my carry method compares to others.

I am wearing a heart monitor that is in two pieces. One of those who is about twice the size of my Blackberry and rides on the belt. Had to adjust my holster "under the Hawaiian shirt." A.F. those are great family days as I know you are a well aware of.

On a related note...

I was hanging around my usual coffee shop, and thought I had "made" someone carrying, sitting next to me. It was a guy I knew, and he sorta fits the CHL profile I've come to know. His "piece" was obviously bulging, and I almost got to the point of discreetly letting him know that he was "showing", when he pulled out... a blackberry from 3:00 to check his messages.

It's not my policy to mention it to people when I "make" them, but I also didn't want some poor dude exposing his pistol for the world to see, either. My hesitance to say anything paid off.

I have "made" a few people in my time as a CHL, two of which I now know have CHLs. Didn't mention it to any of them, though. :thumbs2:

Did he keep his finger off the trigger? :biggrinjester:

For recognition sake, perhaps we can create a special CHL handshake, or hand signal, or facial grimace with special ear wiggle, or leg hop/twirl around routine or ...?

I like the badge idea in the sense of you put it on after the BG is bleeding out on the floor... :thumbs2:

Sounds very "CSI: Miami". . . put your sunglasses on and say a carefully crafted one-liner like, "Now it's my turn to shine." Or, "Next time I'll pay him a visit. . . in jail."

I was thinking more like:

*Make sure your situation is no longer dangerous*

*Slap on CHL badge*

Call to 911: "Hi, BG was <mugging, robbing, sexually assaulting> and I fired until the threat had stopped. Please send an ambulance. BG is on floor, I'm standing with gun and CHL badge. Thank you."

*LEOs show up, see you have badge, holster their weapons and buy you a milkshake*
