Anyone catch the new series Homeland Security U.S.A. on ABC last week? I just watched it on my DVR this weekend and was pretty impressed. Looks like it will be a hit.

I have not seen it but many people I know have been complaining about it since it's inception. They don't like the idea of glamorizing big brother/police state/brown shirt activities (their words, not mine).

They need to watch it. They show real incidents and what these folks have to contend with daily. I like watching "Cops", keeps me a step ahead when I'm out on the streets. 
Seriously though, I learned all kinds of useful stuff about running from the cops, like: Wear a belt, it's easier to run when your pants aren't around your ankles. Being in shape helps too, I love it when they chase the guy and after 1 city block the BG and the officers are all out of breath... hehe. Drive a fast car, if you're going to steal something, steal a Corvette (or at least something faster than a Camry), they never show fast cars on Cops because they got away (or they do show them because the driver wrecked). Z-rated tires don't blow out at 120 mph, and I've never seen a cop hit 200 mph. Don't stay on the same road... spikes hurt tires. If you have to run, be on a bike, just make sure it's dry and you don't have a passenger throwing your weed away in full view of the officer.
I should write a book, I'll call it, "Things I learned from "Cops", how to be the ultimate criminal"... then I'll put tracking beacons in the cover...

I was all set to give this show a thumbs up for entertainment value. It's interesting what Homeland Security has to deal with on a daily basis. But then I ran into this article from Michael Yon's website and it gave me a totally different view of some of these folks.

As stated in the forum before, there are always cases you read about where these things happen. There are thousands of customer officials across the U.S. Just like in any law enforcement agency, you are going to periodically run into those individuals that sometimes abuse their power or act unprofessionally. This one just happened to get written about. Hopefully they will report the incident to the supervisor and get it on his record (if it is founded.) I would not go so far as to paint the whole DHS, or any other agency, with one broad brush as all being bullies, but they do exist.hi-power wrote:I was all set to give this show a thumbs up for entertainment value. The show is great though! I'll be tuning in whenever it's on.
