Test Preparation Centers

Post by l2ss »

I am curious if Test Preparation Centers (for stuff like the SAT) such as Kaplan or Princeton Review would qualify as a "school or educational institution" under PC §46.03. They do not grant any sort of degree, but do have test prep classes. Is there any sort of precedent for this? Would I be fine carrying on those premises?

Welcome to the forum.

No one knows exactly what school in PC 46.03 means. It is not defined in the statute or by case law.

Does it include dance schools? dog training schools? No one will know until a case is appealed.

A legislative initiative that has some support is defining school to be a public or private primary or secondary school accredited by the state.
