Ah... I think that you've got a great point. I forgot about that, I think that they expanded that a couple of years ago to include deploying military in the event of a terrorist attack. Good catch.

As to the topic of the thread......you must act or you're going to die anyway. Just google "Beslan" for a taste of the real thing or follow the link below:

As for US troops operating inside the CONUS....the last TWO Presidents have been working on this one:

"New military unit
for domestic deployment
Cohen says Americans should
'welcome' troops on home soil "

New Rapid-Response Forces to Bolster Homeland Defense Mission
By Gerry J. Gilmore
American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON, Dec. 12, 2008 – Pentagon officials have established a new rapid-response joint task force and plan to create two more in coming years to bolster assistance to civil authorities following potential chemical, biological or nuclear attacks or natural disasters, a senior U.S. official said here yesterday.
The new units will team with other federal agencies in support of local responders following chemical, biological or nuclear terror attacks on the homeland or during natural disasters, Paul McHale, assistant secretary of defense for homeland defense and Americas’ security affairs, told American Forces Press Service and Pentagon Channel reporters.

The establishment of the new units “builds upon a decade of improving [Defense Department] capabilities to deal with a domestic terrorist attack involving a weapon of mass destruction,” McHale said.

This is the stuff of conspiracy novels......only it is real. Elections have consequences! One of the possible "Gun Grabber" nightmare scenarios looks alot like Beslan.

Islamic terrorists attack a school in the heartland of the US. Lots of people killed....Kids, secondary explosions in the parking lot, first responders slaughtered etc. "Bubba" watches it all on CNN and gets it in his head that he "knows" who is to blame......Loads up the truck with beer and bullets and "takes out" the Sikh owner of the "Stop n Go" and the other one at the dry cleaners.
In order to stop the "Civil unrest" that is rapidly developing, our Government declairs an emergency (Like Katrina) and begins to disarm the population under this emergency authority. New bills are passed under the "religious freedoms act" or the "Gun violence regulatory act" etc..... Registration, licenses, and then confiscation are all part of the "reasonable restrictions necessary for the security of a free state......"

I couldn't enjoy my lunch in the mall food court over Christmas because I kept thinking: "When the shooting starts, that tile fountain would be a great place to take cover. Or "If I survive the blast from the suicide bomber...what's the closest exit?" And my wife wonders why I don't like the mall! In my mind it is not a matter of if but when "they" will figure out how to topple the rest of the economy by hitting all of the "soft" targets.....like the theater.

Back to the theater: Keep calm (while I sit in my own waste), don't make eye contact and appear meek. If the chance arises, grab the wife and head for the exit, gun in hand and firing at the BG in front of the door. Glock 27, Crimson trace grips and with God's help, we'll be outside telling Katie Couric how it feels to be a "survivor with a gun" and despite her best efforts, somebody made it out alive....... :patriot:
