The importance of "pro-gun missionary work"

Post by nitrogen »

I know, we've all heard it before.
"The anti gun media does it again..."
"The liberal elite media is always against our rights to bear arms..."

I've stated repeatedly that I don't think it's true, that most of the "media elite" position from guns comes from simple ignorance and intellectual laziness.

Here's an example of what you can accomplish when you try and reach out to the "liberal media elite" and help them see the truth. Sometimes intellectual curiosity will win out.

Fox 28 News Reporter Ashley Olmstead and photojournalist Will Hammergren had never fired a pistol before, that is, until the morning of January 21, 2009, when they met with members of GCO on the shooting range at GCO Corporate Sponsor Mission Essential for a little fun and gun safety training. They had a great time, and you can see the resulting news video here.

Imagine what we could accomplish in Texas if we made these kinds of friendly outreaches? Imagine what we could do nationally?

I have to respectfully disagree. I think most every media group is anti-gun and I don't really know or care what the reasons for that is. The only reason we are seeing the "open minded attitude" is because they now understand more Americans think like us than like them. All this is very dependent to the location and experience of any given reporter or group. It is just now sinking in that the stories they have done for 30 years about how "evil" guns are did not work and in fact lost ground over time. I remember the 90s especially when we had no positive coverage except for maybe small local stuff. Now, they are forced to either except it while holding their nose or lose viewer ship and money. I won't make generalizations but that is my experience over the last few years.

The result of these reporters getting out and actually seeing that we are not their view of who they thought we were is helping a lot. I think that is why so many reports almost seem fair. However, be warned, this is only going to last, on a national level, until Obama and his crowd want to implement a major Second Amendment infringement. I think that will be the test of them all and will show their true nature. Will they go along with supporting their attempted theft of our rights or will they defend our civil rights? This is not to say all reporters and such are anti-2A or gun. It is to say they sway with the political and financial wind just like the politicians. I wish I could agree that it is ignorance on many of their parts. But, my experience writing and calling them thru the 1990s will not let me do so.

Like I always say, smile and treat them like friends but never, ever trust they are not going to stab you in the back if they think it can help their cause. That is just my opinion.
