Kel-Tec PF-9 -- Anyone Own One?

They are scarse around here too. I have a friend that has one & it is his daily carry. I have shot it & find it to be very accurate for such a small gun. Ergonomics make the recoil negligable & his has been totally reliable. Some others have not had so good a report.

I had for a couple months. It was a little big for carrying in my work jeans so I picked up a LCP.

I had less problems out of the PF9 then I have my LCP. It shoots nice.

Not sure if you want a new one, but have you checked at the Bullet Trap in Plano? The carry Kel-Tec's. So does Gunmaster in Plano.

there were a couple at the Tyler gun show this past weekend, and I'm sure there will be a couple or more at the Longview show Feb 14-15.

The only flaw in the design is the trigger shape. In order to eliminate the "bite" from the bottom part of the trigger, I put heat-shrink tubing on the trigger (I'm not the only one to have done this). It works great. The firearm, itself, is very reliable.

Warning: Kel-Tec advises against dry firing. So, if you get a PF-9 and want to dry fire, get some snap caps along with it.

If you are considering a PF9, then you might also consider a Kahr CW9. They are nearly the identical dimensions, the Kahr is only maybe $50 more and IMHO a really big improvement in quality and performance. Just a thought. I originally was planning to get a PF9 and wound up with a CW9 instead.

The Bullet Trap doesn't have any for sale, they're out of stock. But they have one for rent, and I've rented it. I'll probably rent it again tomorrow or Thursday depending on the ice storm.

I've never been to Gunmaster - I hadn't even heard of Gunmaster. I'll check them out. That is a great tip.

The heat-shrink is a good idea. If I get one of these, I'll do that. It's so easy to apply. Also, I don't dry fire anything, I'm paranoid that I'll do some damage and and up at the Gunsmith.

Good suggestion, I had not considered a CW9 at all because the KAHR firearms that I've seen have been priced a lot higher. Maybe $200 - $300 higher. So I'll check for the CW9 specifically.

"Going rate" for a CW9 should be around $400+tax. $370+tax is a very good deal. I have heard of them being bought for more like $350+tax but I have never actually seen one for sale that low. FYI.

I have a PF9 that I purchased slightly used a couple months ago. I liked the accuracy right from the start, but the trigger takes a little getting used to - long pull and the recoil gets the knuckle on my trigger finger just a little each time. Not a problem, but noticable after a box or so of ammunition. It has handled everything "ammo-wise" that I have tried in it without a single problem. I plan on keeping it around.
