Does anyone know how many seconds there are in a leap year?

31,556,926 seconds in a regular year, so I guess there'd be 31,643,326 in a leap year.
(86,400 seconds in a day)

That of course is a calendar year. YOu also have sidereal years, draconic year, galactic year, etc...

I came up with a differerent answer not quite that high. It seems like it would be simple but everyone comes up with a different answer, I guess because of the leap year factor.

I get 31,622,401, allowing for the leap second added to 2008.

Leap seconds a are different beast than leap years, despite sharing a similar name.

I also get 31,622,401 if you add the leap second. That is 60 seconds in a minute X 60 minutes in an hour X 24 hours in a day = 86,400. Then multiply that X 366 days = 31,622,400 + 1 leap second = 31,622,401.

The correct answer is twelve, and I got it from my eight year old grandson. He asked me the same question and I ciphered on it for awhile on it with the calculator too, only to learn the 'real' answer: Jan Second, Feb Second, March Second, Apr Second, May Second, etc.

Nope, sorry you are still wrong. Figuring that way, it is 24. He forgot January 22 (twenty-second), February 22 (twenty second), ..... LOL
