From the story, it looks like the guy shooting also had a concealed permit. That gives all of us a bad name..

I dunno, i think the Webber brothers make us look good, being as they stopped a shooting, without firing a shot, and held someone who they believed to acting in deadly conduct until police could arrive.

as far as Roberson, the article doesn't say why he was shooting at someone, as far as we know, he may very well could have been justified! is interesting, none the less, thanks for posting it.
FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.

From little information we have in the article, it certainly doesn't seem bad. They saw a guy firing across traffic but couldn't tell why. Rather than just shooting him, they justifiably used force (specifically the THREAT of deadly force) to gain compliance and held him until police arrived. The shooter was arrested without incident. How is that supposed to be bad? How many police officers would have responded the same way?
When you take the time out of your day to beat someone, it has a much longer lasting effect on their demeanor than simply shooting or tazing them.

I believe the OP was saying that Roberson (having a permit to carry) was making us look bad, not the Webber brothers.

I, however, was saying that the Webbers made us look better than Roberson made us look bad. does that make sense????
clear as mud? excellent...

Yes, I was trying to indicate that Roberson was giving us a black eye.

Agreed, that we don't know why he was firing his gun. Regardless, it ended well. Guess we will never know what was really happening there.

Apparently this isn't Roberson's first jaunt into stupidity. I'm not sure I understand how he got the permit in the first place or kept it after a previous reckless endangerment conviction...If you read down a bit in the article, it seems Roberson is known idiot.

Take, for example, the case of Dementrius Roberson, who received a gun permit in May 2005. Nearly two years later, on March 6, 2007, the 58-year-old Memphian was in a traffic accident. During a dispute with the other driver, Roberson pulled out his gun and fired, accidentally wounding a bystander. Roberson pleaded guilty to felony reckless endangerment and is now on probation.

According to state records, however, Roberson's gun permit won't expire until 2009.
Edited to add: Ah heck, I just looked at the date on the OP's article. This is all the same case from 2007! I seriously doubt this idiot still has a permit. It doesn't reflect badly on us. it reflects badly on Tennessee's legislature and their CHL process. No background checks on renewal? Seriously? How stupid is that?

Yep...Tennessee screwed this one up.Unfortunately liberals don't think like normal folks. Liberals will say this is a good example of why CHL's shouldn't be issued.
