5 Things About the Kalashnikov

Post by atxgun »

Nice read. Keep in mind it's a general population publication. I'm not a big fan of #5 --- the AK being the "mass murders" weapon of choice. But as they point out
Ironically, the Columbine killers did not use AK-47s, but it doesn’t matter; in America gun crime is now perceived as AK crime.

Now thats funny right there, I don't care who you are. You should read some of the comments on the article below. They all say what we are thinking.
"I am a Free Man, regardless of what set of 'rules' surround me. When I find them tolerable, I tolerate them. When I find them obnoxious, I ignore them. I remain free, because I know and understand that I alone bear full responsibility for everything I do, or chose not to do."

They should change the article title to "The author doesn't know five things about the Kalashnikov".
If I had a gun for every ace I have drawn, I could arm a town the size of Abilene.

I guess you can add me to that list then. I learned a little bit of history from reading it.

I learned some things as well, but statements like "America may have given bin Laden his first AK-47" and "The AK-47 is the weapon of choice for U.S. mass murderers" that are either speculative or easily disproven don't really count as things I didn't know.

I don't know if the US literally provided bin Laden with his first AK, I just viewed that as a reference to the CIA training the taliban to fight the soviets. (Please don't tell you you refute that as actual history).

Of course I don't. But a bullet point regarding US involvement in Afghanistan is largely irrelevant to a web article about the AK-47.

I know I'm expecting too much from AskMen.com.
