I was just rethinking some of my habits. I tend to keep my guns holstered all the time but I tend to just toss them on a table and not worry about where it is pointed. Technically breaking one of the rules. The guns are pointed where they could do damage.

I'm sure there are many documented incidents over the years where handguns have discharged when carried in a "Mexican Carry" brand holster. The last one that comes to mind was a conveniences store robber up in one of the northern states who shot himself in the jewels when he "reholstered." They should really stop giving those things away.

I also keep handguns holstered with a round in the chamber all the time.

I used to unload them, but I eventually decided that was unnecessary handling.

When I remove the carry piece of the day from my belt, I put it in a drawer with the muzzle pointing at the floor. An unintended discharge (however unlikely) would only put a hole in the floor and deafen the opossums that live in the crawl space.

All of the above IMHO.
