Guns do not "go off." They are manipulated in some fashion causing the round in the chamber to discharge.

I was just rethinking some of my habits. I tend to keep my guns holstered all the time but I tend to just toss them on a table and not worry about where it is pointed. Technically breaking one of the rules. The guns are pointed where they could do damage.seamusTX wrote: Are you looking for fuel for a discussion elsewhere?

Re: Holstered Guns
I'm sure there are many documented incidents over the years where handguns have discharged when carried in a "Mexican Carry" brand holster. The last one that comes to mind was a conveniences store robber up in one of the northern states who shot himself in the jewels when he "reholstered." They should really stop giving those things away.

I used to unload them, but I eventually decided that was unnecessary handling.
When I remove the carry piece of the day from my belt, I put it in a drawer with the muzzle pointing at the floor. An unintended discharge (however unlikely) would only put a hole in the floor and deafen the opossums that live in the crawl space.
All of the above IMHO.
