Negligent Discharge Story
I don't know if anyone else has seen this before or not, so I'll post it:
http://negligentdischarge.com/leg.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Moderators note to others: Images in the link show a shooting wound and are somewhat graphic in nature.
It serves as a great reminder of what can happen in just an instant.

Great post. The pictures are excellent.Kawabuggy wrote:I don't know if anyone else has seen this before or not, so I'll post it:

It helps make the point that through and through bullet wounds involve a lot more than just holes that heal up quickly when bandaged.

Thanks for the post! I've sent the link to all my friends who love to shoot.
It doesn't hurt to be reminded of and see what the consequences can be...
if we don't religiously and consciously follow the Colonel's rules.

Let that be a lesson to all of us. That's what can happen when you violate 3 of the 4 safety rules.kirock7 wrote:Thanks for the post! I've sent the link to all my friends who love to shoot.

Re: Negligent Discharge Story
Would you mind adding a warning that some of the pictures may be graphic or unsettling? I was fine with them, but some others might be squeamish. . . or might feel they shouldn't be seen at work where a coworker could be offended.

RULE I: ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
RULE II: NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY
RULE III: KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
RULE IV: BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET
http://negligentdischarge.com/safety.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I would like to add one expanding on the previous rules.
Rule V: never trust the safety
There are others as well but these are the most important.

Personally, I’m interested in keeping other people from building Utopia, because the more you believe you can create heaven on earth the more likely you are to set up guillotines in the public square to hasten the process.--James Lileks

Re: Negligent Discharge Story
Yup,
I've seen that one before. The bloody footprints leaving the basement pretty much tell the whole story.

Oh man...poor guy.
What a dreadful reminder to never let your guard down when it comes to safe gun handling.

Great post.. I vote for a sticky..
This really, really drove it home for me for some reason. I'm always very careful but reading this man's story makes it seem more real.
