Post by NuBer92 »

I just picked up a Bersa Thunder .380 today for $230 at a pawn shop. What a deal. Now the only prob is i cant find any ammo!!! :banghead:
I went to two different acadamy sports and even gander mountain and nothing. I got the inside scoop on the next ammo drop at the Gander in spring. But i'll never tell!! :reddevil
Oh and they have PLENTY of 9mm, .40 , and .45. even wwb val pack.

Funny. Its just the opposite here in Pearland. Go to Wally World, and all they have is .380, and .38SP, no .40 or .45 or .223 etc. :headscratch

I can't figure out why there is a shortage of 380. Two weeks ago while buying some ammo from Natchez, the guy told me they had everything but 380.

I haven't fired my LCP in two months as I'm down to the last 7 rounds (the mag I carry in it) and haven't been able to find any .380 locally. Going to the gunshow here in Amarillo in the morning, hopefully I'll be able to find at least a box....the LCP's been feeling leftout at the range lately.

.380 acp aka 9mm kurz makes a great little carry gun whether in the pocket or in the car or in the purse. Folk are buying the smaller CCW's and the ammo for 'em. Inasmuch as there wasn't previously a large demand for for this caliber, they weren't produced in large quantities hence the higher cost for the smaller cartridge. Ergo, when you see some .380's on a shelf, you might oughta' grab 'em.

 I can't believe I said all of that.

I bought some RBCD ammo (.45 and some .380) from Stoker in San Antonio a year or so ago...That is some good stuff that is certainly expensive, but does a good job considering the caliber...Obviously it is not for plinking...But its what you need if you don't have the other good ammo like the Federal Hydroshok or other high performance "dedicated" self-defense ammunition...

I happened to buy a Bersa for my wife and she likes the pistol and the caliber, so why not give her good ammo to use for when it needs to count...

You can find and order the ammo from him directly, and also find some of his vendors at local gunshows across the state...

RBCD.net

Give it a look...

It seems like some of the smaller ammunition producers are doing ok in keeping up with the pace...But it might be considered expensive in th elong run...I rarely practice with this stuff, and when I can find a box or two of the "practice ammo, you would certainly pick that up for that purpose...

I looks to me like people are changing their habits a bit due to the crunch and dwindling civilian supply of ammo these days...So unless you are already stocked up with the practice ammo, making sure you have the supply of quality ammo you really need, when it needs to count, is the next best thing I suppose...

Just my opinion...

I couldn't find any 380 personal defense ammo locally (north of Houston) , but did find and order some Corbon 80gr DPX ammo at ammo to go.. It is supposed be excellent for personal defense.

I found some .380 at Carters Country. They have magtech for practice and some speer gold dot JHP which i got a box of each for now. (she is pregs right now so we cant go practice together just yet) so i loaded my new "insurance policy" with the gold dot. and the next time i go to the range i will punch some paper.
Thanks for all your input guys!
