Does anyone here know of a mod for a first-generation Taurus PT111 to remove the manual safety?

Something tells me I am bound to trade this pistol eventually.

The problem is, if we are used to never having to check for the safety, then if it gets snagged on something or otherwise finds itself "activated", then it is entirely possible that we might fail to disengage it under stress.

I'd rather eliminate the possibility altogether. DAO + manual safety doesn't make sense to me. I know the safety was optional on the 1G PT111s, so there must be a way to remove it.

Doing so could set you up for a heap of trouble if - God forbid - you should ever have to use the gun. Disabling a safety device is generally seen as reckless. Better that you trade the pistol off or retire it to the safe.

I could see where one could get into trouble over a negligent discharge , but this is Texas and the only issue in a defensive shoot will be if the shooter had cause to shoot. Here in Texas it doesn't matter whether the gun was a .22 or .50 Cal hollow point or FMJ. The issue is simply did the shooter have just cause to use deadly force. The law is very clear about it, and there is no precident that I know of in Texas that modifying a gun would have anything to do with the case.

Yeah I think you are right Liberty. I don't see how altering the manual safety is going to be an issue. Plenty of DAO pistols are available with no manual safety. Unless it was an ND or someone else got my gun and shot themselves or someone else with it, I don't see how the modifications would be relevant.

Yeah, I know, but why even give that to someone to bring up in the first place? Maybe I'm just lazy, but I want to have as few possible issues to deal with. Why add another if I don't have to?
