Shot Fired In Pizza Restaurant Robbery

GALVESTON — A masked bandit brandished a handgun, fired a round into the ceiling of a pizza restaurant and fled with cash and an employee’s purse, but no one was injured, authorities said Thursday.

Galveston police searched the area around Little Caesars Pizza, 2806 61st St., shortly after the 9:30 p.m. Wednesday robbery but didn’t find the suspect described as a white man from 18 to 28 years old, 170 to 200 pounds and standing 5-feet, 9-inches tall.

Police recovered the bullet, but the man escaped with between $1,000 and $1,200, police said.

This restaurant is in a strip of fast-food places. It's a quick-in-quick-out location for someone in a vehicle. I'm just wondering why a robber would choose one over another. The Taco Cabana across the street is a gun-free zone.

It sounds like Little Caesars needs to improve their cash management policy.

That discussion has come up before at our local Starbucks. Suffice it to say, it would not be a great place to get violent, though they have had some problems with petty thefts - usually the tip jar.

While I agree they probably have a lot of cash on hand, if I were a bad guy I wouldn't want to have to deal with a bunch of Star-buck's customers all hopped up on $5 coffee. Those people could become vigilantes if they sense someone putting their Venti Cafe Mocha Latte Up-side-down Macchiato with Low Fat Whip at risk.

Liquor Store Robbed By Masked Man

GALVESTON — Police have yet to find a suspect in a Galveston liquor store robbery, after a masked and armed man fled with cash from the register, authorities said Wednesday.

A man, who was white, about 6 feet tall and about 190 pounds, was dressed in black when he entered Loco Liquor, 6328 Stewart Road, with a handgun shortly before 9 p.m. Monday and demanded money from the clerk.

He fled with $486, a police report said.

There were no shots fired and no injuries reported, police said.

Sounds like the same guy. Loco Liquor is about half a mile from Little Caesars.

The company's based in Seattle, so you might also get a lifetime ban once corporate finds out you saved somebody's life.

Although it's true they're based in Seattle, I don't think you'd be banned.

Starbucks refused to buckle under and prohibit citizens practicing legal open carry in California from entering their stores, despite intense pressure from anti freedom organizations like the Brady bunch and a full bore leftstream media assault.

Their stores are safer from violent crime because of their stance, and they should be applauded for their stand.

I suspect they'd give a customer who prevented injury to others at least a fancier coffee.

An armed robber robbed a woman working at a used-car lot at 59th & Stewart Road Thursday. The business had no cash. The robber took the woman's personal effects and fled.

The robber is described as a "white and had a scruffy beard and mustache. He wore a black, hooded shirt and red ball cap."

The robber escaped.

A nearby day care center was locked down based on a cell-phone rumor, but apparently no one other than the victim was in danger.

I don't think this area is more problematic than any other commercial strip. I don't know how armed robbers pick their targets, either; but some stick close to home.

There have always been homeless or transient characters around here, panhandling during the day and camping in the cemeteries at night.
