OH: Woman defeats 4 home-invasion robbers

Cleveland, Ohio, February 25 -- Four teenagers broke into the occupied home of one Ms. Ellen Basinski and demanded money. One of the robbers emptied her purse. She hit the robber on the head with a saucepan. The robbers fled on foot and were captured by police a short time later. They have been charged with aggravated robbery.

Later, they realized that they had hired one of the suspects to shovel their driveway several weeks ago. "My wife gave them a big tip, so they thought we had money,"

That kind of thing happens often.

The video of her is outstanding. Extremely well spoken and calm woman. Two points come accross to me...crime generally only happens because we as a society allow it and when confronted by a criminal, anger is a much better reaction than fear.

They all had a lack of brains to start with, but now one of them probably has less sense after being hit in the head with a sauce pan. Better hope someone doesn't try something like that with my mother-in-law; she fries chicken in a 14" cast stainless skillet!!

I agree with Lodge. It is always better to fight than allow criminals to have their way.

This woman was extremely lucky that the robbers were unarmed, gutless wonders. Home invasion robbers are the worst sort, often adding gratuitous violence and murder to their initial crime.

Keith, that is funny. For those too young to remember "here come da judge" from the Smothers Brothers show, it is likely on YouTube.
