Obama supports making the AWB permanent

Re: Obama supports making the AWB permanent
We have to keep pressure on our reps to remind them how we feel and to get them to use thier influence on the other side. Our only hope may be the next election cycle to vote in some real conservatives.

Re: Obama supports making the AWB permanent
Actually she can be trusted, but trusted to do what it takes to forward her agenda. She isn't against an AWB, She would love an AWB, but she doesn't want to forward it at this time. She has a united front to push forward her socialist agenda with practically no opposition, she understands that. Once the AWB genie is let out of the bag there will be some Democratic desertions. Party loyalty could cost house seats. That doesn't mean that Pelosi doesn't see an AWB in our future, its just that she wants to chose the time and place of her battles. I suspect that she will be more willing to take on the gunshow loopholes before another go round with the AWB.03Lightningrocks wrote:I liked reading that, but somehow I just don't trust her.

I suspect Pelosi is simply practical and wants to wait until after the midterm elections.

I suspect Pelosi is telling the truth this time...........
Why should the Dem Congress take the heat for this (or any other anti gun actions) when they can just sit back and let her buddy (Sect of State) do the dirty deed with the UN?
One problem with Holder is that he is not quite "in the loop" yet.......
Also, the other problem with him is that he is not an elected official.

Re: Obama supports making the AWB permanent
I think Holder was testing the waters and also broaching the subject to get the initial reaction out of the way. This lessens the effect later. One thing I am sure of is that he would never have made this statement without Obama's approval. John Ashcroft he isn't!

Perhaps it's just part of the Obama administration's attempt to stimulate the economy. When this hit the press, millions of people jumped up from their chairs, screaming..."see...I knew this was coming". There will be a flood of articles and mailings, that lone box of 7mm Nambu will get purchased immediately and magazines/rifles will go on indefinite back order.
It would be very ironic if firearms and sporting goods companies become so profitable that they lead us out of this recession. The last time I was at an outdoor public range, there were enough AR-15's to equip an infantry company. Many people had 2-3 of them. Lots of the shooters were skilled and looked like they were recently discharged or on leave from active duty (young kids with high & tight haircuts and military themed t-shirts).

Had questions regarding AWB. If a ban is instituted, what actually is banned? The lower requires a sale through an FFL. What about an upper and other parts? Are they banned from sale too? Does it ban production from the date of implementation? What about individual sales of non FFL parts after a ban? That should be enough for now, may have more ?????

Anything they want. From no new manufacture of banned guns to no sales of existing banned guns to turn them all in by 1/1/2010 or else.lws380 wrote:Had questions regarding AWB. My liberal friend next door took them off my hands when we found out they were soon to be illlegal.03Lightningrocks wrote:"Captain Matt wrote:...snip........ turn them all in by 1/1/2010 or else.Yeah....it really was some bad luck officers". Charles L. Cotton wrote:Sorry, Nitrogen, but George W. didn't support it. That was a campaign statement he didn't mean and the "fix" was already in to make sure he never got a bill on his desk. If something had slipped through, it would not have been identical to the Clinton Gun Ban (that fix was in also), so that would have given him a way out. Everyone in politics knew it and famous anti-gunners like Brady, Feinstein and Schumer accurately pointed out that, if Bush really supported reauthorization of the Clinton Bun Ban, then he would have at least "lifted a finger to" promote it.nitrogen wrote:George W Bush did, too.
Obama's a lost cause; I'm more worried about Congress at this point.
Chas.

W would have never passed anything like that. As far as Congress goes, Why are they not term limited like the President? The first President to propose that would get millions of votes come time for re-election. It always made me laugh when the likes of nancy pelosi would tout W's low approval rating, while the rating for Congress was always lower. She always forgot to mention that. I never understood why you could become a criminal just for putting a pistol grip on a shotgun. The way I understand it, anything that barry and crew think is 'scary' would constitute an 'assault rifle'.

Every time a falicy with the democraps is pointed out...they take a shot at Bush. At some point that dog won't hunt any longer. I believe the OP was pointing out Obama's attack...which is here today. How does flinging monkey poo at GW change that the O is trying to destroy America?

Eventually they will realize that socialism only works until they run out of other peoples money.
