Tactical Research Information Source - Force Science News

Post by Excaliber »

The Force Science News is a periodical published by the Force Science Research Center. Their articles are written primarily for a law enforcement audience. They contain a wealth of information on tactics, criminal behavior, the dynamics of critical encounters, and many other topics. I highly recommend this resource to serious students of armed defense.

The archive of past articles is available here.

You can sign up to receive their monthly articles by email here.

As an example of some of the things they write about, their latest study is on reaction time for an officer with a suspect laying on the ground. How fast can the suspect turn over and shoot the officer? The initial studies on thsi show some fascinating facts, but they admit they need (and are doing) a more controlled and scientific study.

Steve:

The study they did on the hit potential of inexperienced shooters is an even bigger eye opener, and helps explain some of the "lucky shots" we see bad guys make on the street. It has lots of implications for both LEO's and CHL's. Their study strongly suggests that the actual time available to resolve a gunfight successfully is much shorter than many folks believe. It's worth a read, and can be found here.

Good resource!
